OUR STORY

 


We are a premium children's outerwear and accessories label for little adventurers. We are sledding enthusiasts, nature lovers, hiking connoisseurs, snowball-making mavens, and skiing fanatics. And we're always seeking more adventurers, both big and small, to join our movement! At Northern Classics, high performance meets tasteful design.

We embrace the outdoors and are the catalyst for some of the sweetest (yet coldest!) childhood memories. Outdoor play has many proven benefits for children of all ages and should be enjoyed year round. The Northern Classics story began in 2018, when I welcomed boy/girl twins. As winter came, I started to look for high-quality outerwear that was also picture-worthy.

In my search, I couldn't find many options – the swimwear and play clothes got all the love! So, I set out on a mission to source the best performing materials to keep children warm and dry, while incorporating classic and clean design elements. And of course, the look wouldn’t be complete without matching accessories.

As I built Northern Classics, my children grew and I couldn't believe the impact getting outside had on their moods, growth, and confidence. They were SO happy exploring the outdoors – and honestly, I was too, learning that I could be more hands-off as they found entertainment on their own in nature. When snow was on the ground, it was even better — an instant toy in itself! And as long as they were dressed for the weather, my kids didn't even notice the cold.

Playing in the snow is a magical experience for children and should be captured for the memory books.

2018

Our founder welcomed boy/girl twins. She loved finding cute matching outfits and swimsuits, but quickly realized there were no stylish, functional options for winter. That gap sparked the idea that would one day become Northern Classics.

2020

While home with three children under two during the pandemic, Kristin needed a creative outlet. She began sourcing materials, meeting with factories, and slowly bringing the vision of Northern Classics to life.

2022

After years of dreaming, planning, and late-night development, Northern Classics launched its first collection. The debut lineup introduced our signature mix of elevated design and everyday function, quickly resonating with families looking for better winter gear.

2024

Kristin expanded the team, hiring her childhood best friend as COO and her longtime babysitter as Head of Marketing.

2025

Northern Classics is experiencing its biggest year yet. We’ve been featured in multiple national magazines, collaborated with brands like Tonies, and our products are now sold at Nordstrom. Kristin was also honored with a 40 Under 40 award. It’s an exciting season of growth, and we’re just getting started - there’s so much more to come.
