Northern Classics Donates Over 100 Pairs of Mittens to Michigan Children Following Giving Tuesday
GRAND RAPIDS, MI, December 5, 2025 -- Northern Classics, the technical children’s outerwear brand, announced the donation of over 100 pairs of mittens to children across Michigan following Giving Tuesday, supporting families and organizations working to keep kids warm during the winter season.
The donation reflects Northern Classics’ ongoing commitment to ensuring that more children have the opportunity to experience winter outdoors with warm, durable outerwear designed for real-life play.
Founded by Michigan-native Kristin Ruud, Northern Classics creates elevated children’s outerwear built for comfort and durability. The brand’s winter gear is designed to withstand active use while maintaining a timeless aesthetic that families can rely on season after season.
“Giving back to our local community in Michigan is deeply important to us,” said Kristin, founder of Northern Classics. “Winter is such a meaningful part of childhood here, and we want as many kids as possible to be able to get outside and enjoy it comfortably.”
The mittens were distributed to local organizations supporting children and families across Michigan, helping ensure access to warm winter gear during the coldest months of the year. The initiative builds on Northern Classics’ broader mission of encouraging outdoor childhood experiences, regardless of circumstances.
“As a company built around the idea of outdoor childhood, this felt like a natural extension of our mission,” said Rachel, COO of Northern Classics. “We design products for real life, and we want those products to also serve our community in a meaningful way.”
Northern Classics plans to continue exploring ways to support local families and organizations through seasonal giving initiatives and community partnerships.
Northern Classics is available at northernclassics.com and through select retail partners.
